Student Information
Oxford University Student Union's Freshers' Fair is being held from Wednesday 5th - Friday 7th October 2011 (Wednesday - Friday of 0th Week). The Colleges have requested specific times for their Freshers to attend; just choose your college from the drop down menu and you'll find your allocated time slot.
If you're a returning student then you're more than welcome to attend "ReFreshers' Fair" on the Friday.
- Where is it?
- It is held in Exam Schools, which is at the East end of the High Street. When attending the fair, you should use the entrance on Merton Street, which is the cobblestone road to the left of the building.
- What time does it open / close?
- First entry to the Freshers' Fair is at 10.00am, and last entry at 4.00pm on Wednesday and Thursday and 2.00pm on Friday. There are 3 sessions on Wednesday and Thursday; 10.00am - 12.00pm, 12.00pm - 2.00pm and 2.00pm till 4.00pm.
- How do I gain entry?
For both the Wednesday and Thursday you will require a Wristband. These have already been booked by your college for you and will be available from either the college secretary or a member of your Freshers' Fair committee.
PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to gain access without the appropriate wristband. Each session has been allocated a specific colour and the details of your time slot. Please ensure that you are wearing it when you arrive. You will not be allowed into the Fair without a valid wristband.
- Can I bring a friend/parent/dog/other?
- No, unfortunately not. Tickets are allocated to individuals and it is not possible for additional people to attend as time slots have a maximum capacity. (Guide dogs will of course be permitted!)
- How much does it cost?
- Nothing it's free!
- Can I buy extra tickets?
- Really sorry but it isn't possible to purchase extra tickets.
- I missed my time slot - what should I do?
- Please try not to miss your slot. Times have been allocated as per your college's request, which should mean that they fit in with your Freshers' Week timetable. All the slots at the Fair are pretty much full to capacity, so it will be incredibly difficult to arrange an alternative time. If you do however miss your time slot, then please come along to the ReFreshers' Fair on Friday 7th October.
- Who's going to be there?
We are! The President and Vice Presidents of the Student Union, and many members of the Executive will be there, together with all the Campaigns that we run, so it's a great opportunity to find out who we are and what we do. We'll all be wearing our Navy Blue OUSU hoodies so we should be easy to find.
We also have over 450 clubs and societies exhibiting, and a number of companies with great deals for students. Plus, of course, every new arrival to the University!
For more information about the clubs and societies that are attending, you can browse them on this site, and if you want more info about the Oxford University Student Union then visit our website: www.ousu.org.
- How will I find my way about?
- There will be loads of Stewards at the Fair who will be wearing Red Freshers' Fair t-shirts and who will be guiding you round the fair, and who will be more than happy to answer any questions you have. Each section of the fair will also be clearly signposted to tally with the descriptions on the website.
- Can I bring food or drink?
- You can't bring your own food and drink, but there will be plenty of free food available in the commercial marquee. Water dispensers are located around Exam Schools so please help yourself.
- Do I have to be a Fresher to attend?
- No, you're more than welcome to attend "ReFreshers' Fair" which is on Friday 7th October! If you're a returning student, you just need to remember to bring your Bod card to show at the entrance.
- Can I attend more than once?
- No, sorry. Once you leave, you can't get back in.
- Do I need to bring spending money?
- No, there's nothing for sale inside the Fair. Some societies charge membership fees, but will not do so at the Fair itself.
